darflen lore (wip)
note: while the rules do state all posts must be in darfish, for the sake of space this post shall be in englfish :) (translated from the darf scroll by masters of darfish)

in the beginning, there was something else, but mr. paradock wiped it by accident, rip.
so a land was created, called the darflands. a mysterious fish called darf serving as a bit of a messenger between the darfriends and mr. paradock
but then, in the neighbouring half a dimension away, there was a much older, useless and broken force called “blaze”. called that because it was shit on fire, blazing everyone. and seeing as new neighbours had warped their way into a similar part of space-time, KyleTech (the owner of blaze) sent a cat made of fire, adequately and unimaginatively named firecat, to investigate. but the clever darfriends made a parody plot armour protected version of blaze but better, named blaze_app. how did the darfriends, specifically jinx (i think) make it better?
well, while almost nothing had survived from the previous era, mr. paradock did have a few things: scrolls. there were several; the scroll of sigma, the scroll of darf (previously the empty scroll) and since this lore is a wip i will be adding them while the story progresses and more are needed :)
anyways, mr. paradock, seeing the problems with blaze, gave the darfriends the scroll of sigma and they were able to make blaze_app better than firecat
meanwhile, one of the darfriends (very much a real cat) prophesied that they would become the worst of the darfriends, and, guess what, they warp space time to go to Meower, a hidden island in a lake in the mountains whose population enjoys talking about stuff around campfires, and th real cat shouted about their server on discord (a big spaceship with aims to take over the universe)
and then the real cat got chased out of the mountains and when arriving back at the darflands got kicked into space by mr. paradock, fulfilling the prophecy.
but at least some new darfriends had joined! meanwhile, the war between blaze and blaze_app raged on, until firecat got sprayed by a fire extinguisher darf had in his pocket the entire time, and firecat became wetcat then went home.
then, darf converted everyone to darfism and everyone spoke darfish and mr. paradock gave darf an empty scroll, the 2nd scroll, to write the story of darflen in (which is why it’s slightly biased).

that’s all the lore there is so far. tell me if there are incoherences, things i forgot, or things you don’t like and i’ll try to fix it :)

so NOW we want to do the compromise? extremely loud buzzer sound effect

the whole point of paradock's compromise with the queen election was TO BE A COMPROMISE. yet everyone seemed to ignore paradock's post completely (maybe partly due to the fact that paradock now posts 4 times in 4 minutes) because that hypothetical kept itsgiving as queen, so we (yes, we, as in darfriends) relied on the election poll because there was a CHANCE she would be dethroned. but THEN, the election poll suddenly wasn't good enough, so we made a new one and suddenly called IT the official poll. and now apparently that STILL isn't enough???? she won the poll and that's that.

remember paradock's post says "we cancel the election but she has to be active at least once a day" and now we're COMPLETELY IGNORING THE FIRST PART OF THE POST? IF WE DO THAT THEN IT'S NOT A COMPROMISE ANYMORE! it's just a... mise... BUT IT'S CHANGING THE POINT OF THE POST ENTIRELY!

so i'm putting my foot down as king, anyone who is still trying to squeeze any last drops of hope out of this are dragging it too far. stop it. you need to PROPERLY admit defeat and move on. thanks for all the fun this has been for me, watching this fiasco unfold, but THIS is too far. it's ridiculous that some people have taken this more seriously than even i have

Greetings, Darfriends 😄

It has now been a week since I posted my mayoral campaign, and now with 10 days until the elections I would just like to clarify a few things!

Firstly, many of you have been questioning who I am, so I will give you a bit of background. I have had almost 10 years of experience being a mayor now, after being consistently voted as the best tumbleweed of tumbletown. Having been living in tumbletown my entire life, I am much respected amongst other tumbleweeds as well the other native fauna, which includes camels, wild horses and sometimes humans. Tumbletown is definitely the place to be if you are a tumbleweed, having all the necessities and more! At the mere age of 6, I was enrolled into Tumbletown's elementary school, which, by the way, is considered to be the best tumbleweed inclusive school in the northern hemisphere, in which I excelled at all core subjects, including mathematics and english. After graduating high school at age 18, I then went on to pursue my dream career or Tumbletown's mayor. Having made a lot of friends throughout school, it was easy enough to win the election that year. After realising what a good mayor I am, Tumbletown then went on to vote me every year since, allowing me to become the great mayor I am today!

Now that you know a bit more about me, I will move on to talk about my campaign.

One of the main focuses of my campaign, which you can view , is to increase the customizability of Darflen, allowing for new themes as well as other features such as customizable fonts. You may be wondering just how I plan on implementing this, as the Darflen mayor role does not actually give you any more permissions. Firstly, I will directly contact Paradock and ask to implement these features, which he will be more likely to listen to as I am the mayor, but more importantly I will do all the hard work for him. Past attempts to introduce new themes to Darflen have failed, likely because Paradock just cannot be bothered. However, I will design all the themes and write the css code for Paradock, while also giving him previews of each theme, so all he has to do is copy it into Darflen's code! The good news is, even if Paradock never implements these features, I will write a userscript which will allow any Darflen user to use them! Stay tuned for previews of these themes and features within the next week!

There is a serious situation going on!, the owner of the respective social media, Darflen, is close to being surpassed by another fellow user named with only 1 FOLLOWER AWAY! This battle is now an all-out war for the most followed user on Darflen. This is like T-Series vs PewDiePie but on Darflen.

Going to make a few posts on the history of bugs on Darflen in the next few days

History of bugs on Darflen: c2pe

C2PE (community pinned post exploit) was found on 28th June, 2024 when I made a post in a community by that was basically a hate club for s4il. pinned my post and then realised that community owners could edit and delete a pinned post. Considering you can pin a post by anyone, and it doesn’t even need to be in your community, this basically gave the people who knew about the exploit power over everyone else. Before knowing this, I panicked and deleted my post and changed my password thinking I was being hacked. But then told me about the exploit and he went on to edit a Darflen post to make it say Darflen had commited 63 felonies, while I edited a jcole post to contain the hashtag (after getting permission). I forgot what I did apart delete a few blaze alt posts for testing, and change 1 word of s4il’s pinned post.

Just before the website gets taken down for maintance [sic], manages to change s4il’s pinned post to “hi, im gay” and then wiped every single post by.

After Darflen was accessible again, the functions to edit and delete pinned posts no longer worked, as they were intentionally disabled. Paradock probably added checking to see who was deleting posts afterward (I hope he did).

The aftermath of c2pe, which only lasted 2 hours or so, brought the most users who edited a single post record (me, blockcoinisbetter, Paradock, s4il in that order), a little bit of peace on the blockcoin war and temp ban (@blockcoinisbetter). Sometime short after or before, Paradock also deleted the original place of the discovery of the exploit, the s4il hate community. It’s probably better that way.

Next time: anarchy/ownerless communities.
