why don't new phones improve battery life instead of making micro optimizations to cameras that will take a average of 5 photos before the next phone comes out

companies tend to not care about enginering their products better and in a well-rounded way -
answer: don't buy apple phones
serious answer: they want money thats why they do it. clearly if they can make the old phones unfashionable then everyone with too much money will buy the new ones. then they just need to make newer phones, with the smallest possible "improvements". there's a very specific term for this kind of marketing i learned from a veritasium video but idk.
