Any genius can make it complicated. Like in physics, it takes a supra-genius to make it simple.

my srb2 installation is configured to load a bunch of "improvement" plugins at startup, and unfortunately i've gotten used to them to the point of being almost nearly-incompetent with an unmodded game

so i've been thinking about the recently-launched shinies in the back of my head.
it's a cool idea, and i jumped on it simply because it reminds me of the chanfun bot that hung around a certain irc channel, but i'm going to admit that i'm slightly concerned and mostly from the fact that the developer is a mystery, having no public-facing social nor a public git or anything, and what does exist is just are just brand accounts for the shinies platform.
granted, if your standards of concern are average, shinies is perfectly fine, the sign-up proc is literally a username and a password (not even an email, which is slightly concerning, mostly since there's no alternative way to reset your password), and there's very little real-world financial risk - it's more like the internetometer or chanfun than like an actual cryptocurrency.
i think i have a problem overthinking harmless things but just not being able to know the people behind a thing makes it hard to trust that thing

i used to be against using a browser-based rss reader (i really liked akregator on desktop and feeeed on ios) but after setting up freshrss on my rpi and using it (and rss-bridge) i actually really like it
rss in general is a personal favorite, the ability to get content from multiple different sources under a single and consistent user interface oftentimes without an account on each service/silo is perfect and i wish more websites kept it officially
