vvvvvv (3ds) review:
vvvvvv is a puzzle-ish platformer from 2010 where instead of jumping, you flip gravity. the game reminded me of celeste, with a similar loop of getting better at each room until you finally pass it. the game was short (it took me just under 4 hours to beat), but it also has custom levels and extras that i have yet to try
the game's whole premise is that your ship has crashed, and you have to find and rescue all your crew members. this game is great. i played it on my 3ds, and outside of a single , i enjoyed every second of it. every mechanic was immediately intuitive after coming across it. outside of that one room, not a single required room felt unfair or stupid
the game also has difficult extra paths to get collectibles called trinkets. theres 20 of these trinkets in the game, and i only got 4 of these my first time around. i'm definitely going to go back to get them all. the game also has a time trial mode, for anyone who likes speedrunning. you should play it
the music is good, too. it was nice listening to it while playing the game. also, the visuals are perfect. it's inspired by commodore 64 graphics. they seem simple, but they're really polished, and the whole game just looks really nice. (also, i didn't expect this game to have 3d graphics on the 3ds, but it does and they look really nice!)
10/10 will play again
