Only a few of yall might even remember this, and probably fewer of you even care, but my first post was a character for the game I was working on (Leaf), and I later posted the second character (Gun). The idea for the game, was for it to be a metroidvania with two characters that you swap between to solve puzzles. Sorta like those lego games for those of you who know.
I thought, and still think that this is a solid and unique premise, but it was surprisingly complicated. Pretty much every major bug and issue I encountered was related to the swapping system (which was also very difficult to implement. There are very few internet sources covering that kind of mechanic for Godot, or really any engine.) Before I started going to college, it wouldn't be uncommon for me to spend around 5 hours just trying to solve one mostly undocumented bug. One that could've been avoided if I kept my scope lower.
Spending hours fixing bugs is part of the game dev experience, I understand that. But it would make my life easier if I didn't set my sights too high. So I have decided to cancel development for The Adventures of Leaf and Gun and work on an easier project that I will be working on over winter break. I probably wont show screenshots of anything, at least not until I am at a comfortable stage.
Anyway that is all.
