If only he were anything but some dude that pretended to be divine and then people began inventing stories about him. -
I haven't been able to look at discord in several days because of travels. If you texted me, I'll answer it eventually.
- Threat of eternal punishment (hell).
- Appeal to the innate human need to feel loved (God/Jesus loves you etc.)
- Lies that the church has told (middle ages, many protestant pastors of the current age)
- God loves everyone equally whether or not you believe in Him
- this is the equivalent of me saying that atheism is bad because of Stalin or some atheist who happened to be a bad person. Even ones who killed Christians. It's a fallacy
- Again, meaningless.
- No, it is not. Religion is known for lying, and they obviously lie about much more that you can imagine. Clearly there's no way to ensure that they don't lie about everything.
- satan loves everyone equally even if you don't believe in him. so does hatsune miku
- yes religion doesn't make you bad, it's your actions. but what you said was unrelated and not what eagle was saying though
People are known for lying. Biblical Christianity is actively against lying. You are pointing out the sins of individuals, not the sins of the religion. Which anyone could do for really anything.
Also, I'm pointing out the sins of the people in charge of the religion, they are not just anyone.
- I think you are confused. I'm not just making stuff up on the spot. Whenever I make a claim like that, I'm basing what I am saying off of the Bible. This of course raises the question of whether or not the Bible is reliable, but that is a separate topic.
- do you personally think it is reliable?
- My point still stands. Humans have the capacity of sinning. And I am very well aware of the terrible actions of religious leaders and I do not support any of that. However, if you want to be technical, the actual leader of Christianity is Jesus.
- isn't the leader of christianity the guy who wrote the book? why not just find a new leader who's alive like countries do when their leader dies?
- These humans are/were in charge of the religion and whatever claim the religion makes has to go through them to be considered official. If they are corrupt (which they are), then so is the whole cult.
"Official" Christianity is not decided by church leaders. It's what is in the Bible, which none of them wrote.
- Yes it is. The Bible had writings added and removed up until the 15th century. The people in charge of Christianity were the ones who decided what is in its official version.
