You know what, time travelling brain worm lore
- Their motivations are unknown, but they travel back in time, change a person's thoughts (not just any random thought, they have some sort of criteria), and go back to wherever they came from.
- They're way too fast to observe, the only trace they leave when they've done their job is the changed mind.
- You can feel the changes if they happen to you, but due to a combination of the worms' careful work and the nature of the brain, most of the time you'll usually forget within 5 seconds, no matter how aware you become of their existence.
- The most noticeable form of these changes is forgetting, but they also subtly shift the course of your train of thought in different directions by adding small deviations to thoughts, or possibly new thoughts altogether. Sometimes making you forget is also too aggressive, so instead they warp the thought into something more nonsensical to get your mind to force it out itself.
