    ...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER TODAY...

    Southwest winds will return today along with warmer temperatures.
    Afternoon relative humidity values will fall to 25 to 30 percent
    with southwest winds gusting to 25 to 35 mph. This will couple
    with dry fuels to lead to an elevated risk of wildfire and
    brushfire growth and spread today. Take extra caution to prevent
    wildfire and brushfire starts this afternoon.

    This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southern
    Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast
    Missouri.

    .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

    A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 AM through 7 PM CDT for
    all of southeast Missouri, and generally to the west of the
    Interstate 57 corridor in southern Illinois, where a high fire
    danger will develop this afternoon. Elsewhere, it will still be
    dry and breezy leading to an elevated fire danger. See the Special
    Weather Statement for details outside of the warning area.

    In addition, south to southwest winds throughout the Quad State will
    gust 25 to 35 mph at times this afternoon.

    .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

    A small chance of thunderstorms is forecast for portions of the
    region late Saturday night through Sunday. While a strong storm or
    two cannot be completely ruled out, locally heavy rainfall and
    lightning will be the primary concerns.

    Spotter activation is not anticipated.
