Don't mean to be disrespectful but what the fuck were the creators of kanji writing thinking?
Yeah sure this writing system consisting of thousands of extremely complex and specific chararcters with arbitrarily chosen meanings seems like very easy to learn and understand way of putting thoughts in paper, and it definitely cannot be tweaked to be more optimal.

I want to but it feels like it will take forever. Or at least way more than Greek or Russian

its chinese characters but japanese would be more difficult without them, also moyogana (i think) which was the first japanese writing system, was ALL chinese, and was even more painful than what we have right now. i feel ur pain.

I'm sorry but japanese would be hell if it was hiragana / katakana only kanji really does make reading easier, distinguishes homonyms and helps you able to figure out a word's meaning if you already know the kanji inside of it

They were probably thinking "yeah let's just take what chinese does for now we can always fix it later right"
