my favorite way of an rss reader is just as a widget, like with windows 7.
havent been using rss in a long while but with linux's cinnamon desklets it's awesome on my new laptop.
hope muddasheep brings back his rss.
another way i wish i could get is a whole ass entire gadget just for reading those, with a simple pixelated grayscale LCD screen and physical buttons. hope to make somthing like it once i get a 3d printer and an esp32 kit... sometime... maybe... (´;ω;`)

i used to be against using a browser-based rss reader (i really liked akregator on desktop and feeeed on ios) but after setting up freshrss on my rpi and using it (and rss-bridge) i actually really like it

rss in general is a personal favorite, the ability to get content from multiple different sources under a single and consistent user interface oftentimes without an account on each service/silo is perfect and i wish more websites kept it officially

i don't really rely on widgets much, on ios they're basically the equivalent of live tiles - they just display information and that's it-tapping them just opens the full app, and on desktop i just find them too small to be useful, and kde widgets are crash-happy when resized (could be a me issue, mostly)
a dedicated rss device would be cool although for someone like me who's more or less into dedicated software, i want to get a play.date and try and build a reader for things like gemini or pocket. i just think it would be fun to use the console's physical crank to scroll.

true, especially with kde gadgets (or i guess it's my distaste of anything even remotely related to arch linux). them playdates is awesome too, hope to get one sooner or later if my budget ever gets any good
