There can be more than one. Why are you criticizing how I talk? Both he and they are perfectly acceptable. -
they are not both acceptable? take me for example, i wouldnt like anyone reffering to me as he at all,, -
What if they/them aren't my preferred pronouns? Are you saying people shouldn't refer to me as "they" if they don't know my gender? Simply because I wouldn't like being called "they" in regular context? -
In several other languages, masculine doubles as the neutral gender form. It's hard to accommodate. Be a little more empathic, dude. -
the "they" (singular) equivalent in French is not even used or generally accepted. You would get laughed at if you used "iel" unironically -
you know that is a good question, but i think why people use they instead of he is because they is like the neutral pronoun, while he is like the masculine pronoun, like no one really would get mad if you refered to them as they (like i literally just did) but it is not unfathomable to either make someone mad or just uncomfortable by using he. so yeah, youre gay -
I feel like if I was gay I would be more likely to agree with you. Also, it's not that deep. If someone gets offended by the usage of "he" as a neutral pronoun, they need to reconsider a few things if that is what concerns them the most. Different people talk differently, if you think that is a problem then we have a completely different issue.
