ok so there's a lot of leap through deep sea mining and many mining companies seems to be interested to mine the ocean...
there's a lot of these nodules that formed after thousands of years at the bottom of the oceans containing a lot of rare earth elements
it sounds cool to get those minerals because of the huge demands for electronics stuff like batteries and it could solve issues like child exploitation and slavery in many rare-earth mining operations
but there's an issue... the deep ocean is a mostly unexplored area where we barely know about anything especially the ecosystem in... in fact there's definitely life in this area even if it is completely dark and with very low oxygen.
so what happens if we start using nodules suckers that would pretty much destroy the surface of these areas? it might be the next environmental disaster
does the benefits outpace their defaults?
